About Potash

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP\'s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan\'s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles. Jansen\'s construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million Tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. About the Graduate Program

The 24-month graduate program focuses on Developing, Engaging, Managing Change and Achieving Results. It\'s a balanced approach to technical and professional development to ensure you have well-rounded capabilities. This will be the cornerstone of your BHP Career. Graduates will rotate into different teams 2-4 times, to help build technical capabilities, working relationships with new people and leadership skills. You\'ll be guided by our leaders as you work on real projects, offering accelerated learning and career path opportunities. Near the end of the program, you\'ll be provided the choice to stay in the same commodity or seek opportunities elsewhere in BHP to demonstrate all that you have learnt.

Purpose

BHP is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Resources Engineer to support the team\'s contribution to leading engineering strategies, standards and frameworks that ensure the engineering process and design is optimized and enables safe, efficient construction, commissioning, and operation. The Graduate Resources Engineer, Potash will join a global cohort of like-minded graduates who will be supported, motivated, and mentored to develop the skills required to work on real business problems, and given an opportunity to create a career that will have a lasting impact on themselves and on the world.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Provide support in various areas of the non-process infrastructures (NPI) program of work located at the Jansen site, SK and the Port located in Vancouver, BC.
  • Support the development of work packages from engineering, contract formation, award, mobilization, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Promote safety by being advocate to the field leadership activities.
  • Apply an understanding of engineering-related terminologies, key processes, and activities.
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Provide support in identifying, managing and engaging a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP\'s risk management framework, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Source information, plan and conduct analyses to support evidence-based decision making.

Work Location

This role will be mainly site based (5 days on site/ 2 days off). Regular travels may be required to Saskatoon, Calgary, Mississauga or Vancouver; Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of site/office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

About You

To be considered, you will need:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Rail or Electrical Engineering, or master\'s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Rail or Electrical Engineering, with bachelor\'s degree completed not earlier than 2021.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build working relationships with various teams across the organization.
