Purpose:

Grading Room Operators are team members responsible for overseeing the sorting/grading of incoming product (raw fish) by size. Operators oversee the fish as they enter the Grading Room via. pump, ensuring all product is collected in the central holding receptacle, before being sorted through the use of a motorized conveyer belt. Operators are responsible for maintaining this sorting process, ensuring all product is in satisfactory conditions, and being delivered to the Tank Room on a timely basis. If we are not using the grading room the successful candidate would be doing the same role as Freezing and Holding duties and would be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Duties:

Inspecting the received product (whole fish) to ensure satisfactory quality. Overseeing the collection of the raw product (fish) into a central holding receptacle. Overseeing the sorting process (done using a motorized conveyer belt). Ensuring the raw product (fish) is delivered to the Tank Room in a timely fashion.

Requirements:

Must be physically capable of standing, sitting, and/or walking on cement floors for extended periods. Must be physically capable of handling raw product (fish) when necessary. Must be physically capable of climbing up/down Company ladders when required. Must be capable of inspecting received product for any defects/issues in quality. Must be capable of operating computerized equipment, if necessary. Must be capable of accurately completing documents with legible handwriting. Must be capable of working assigned shifts, in addition to overtime (if required). Must be capable of working weekends if assigned. Minimum of a Grade 12 Education is an asset, but not necessary. Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

This position can be physically demanding with any combination of standing, sitting, and/or walking on cement floors for extended periods of time. The ability to climb ladders may be required to access locations within the Grading Room. The ability to operate computerized equipment may be required. Excessive levels of noise can be expected during periods of high production.
