The Opportunity
Working as a member of the Civil crew, the Gradeperson is responsible for the safe and efficient shooting of grades for civil construction pipe projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work safely on a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
Work with the Foreman and the crew to establish daily layouts and setups
Set elevations and grades for roads, underground utilities, and other needs
Read drawings and check for completeness or errors, produce accurate as-built drawings.
Proficient use and maintenance of different types of levels and survey equipment, including storage of equipment at end of day.
Ensure all elevations are noted at end of the day in preparation for the next day or future work.
Maintain complete field notes and analyze results, prepare reports as needed.
Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues.
Train other employees and maintain quality results of work
Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope
Qualifications, Experience & Skillset
Civil construction pipe grading experience
Previous construction experience
Knowledge in elevations and grades for site grading, installing pipe and road construction
Able to read and understand engineering drawing and instructions
Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals
Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
Flexible with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
What we offer
Unionized wage rate of $39.99 per hour (wage subject to negotiation based on candidate's experience), plus 12.5% vacation / statutory holiday pay.
