Job Description

Poplar River First Nation

is seeking an experienced middle years teacher to teach Grade 8 for the 2025/2026 school year.

Poplar River School provides Nursery/Kindergarten to Grade 12 classes to a student population of approximately 400 students. We offer competitive remuneration and benefits package and provide subsidized housing, furnished apartments, free Wi-Fi, and travel allowance.

Our school employs 1 Principal, 2 Vice Principals, 28 Teachers, 30 Educational Assistants, 10+ Support Staff. We offer 2 Professional Development opportunities to staff including other local opportunities throughout the year.

Requirements:



Bachelor of Education Degree

Valid Teaching Certificate (preferably Canadian license)

Experience working in First Nations school or knowledge of

Ability to be flexible and work as an efficient team player

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines

Ability to be curriculum and policy focused

Good Computer Skills - (Power School)

Must be available to work in the next 2-3 weeks.

Poplar River is a

remote

(fly-in) community on the east side of Lake Winnipeg. Winter road, to Berens River, is accessible from December to March. There is an all-weather road from Berens River to Winnipeg. Flight time from St. Andrews airport is 1 hour 15mins. Daily flight service is available, except Saturdays.
