Overview:We are seeking a passionate and dedicated French Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the French language and a deep understanding of French culture. This role involves creating an engaging and supportive learning environment for students of varying ages and proficiency levels, fostering their love for the language while helping them achieve their academic goals.
Duties:
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to different learning styles.
Teach French language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening, through interactive activities and real-world applications.
Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
Incorporate cultural elements into lessons to enhance students' understanding of the French-speaking world.
Collaborate with fellow educators to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities that promote language acquisition.
Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff regarding student performance and classroom dynamics.
Skills:
Proficiency in both written and spoken French; fluency is preferred but this assignment is for French as a Second Language.
Strong communication skills to effectively convey concepts and engage students.
Ability to create an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse backgrounds.
Familiarity with various teaching methodologies and technology integration in the classroom.
Organizational skills to manage lesson planning, grading, and student assessments effectively.
Patience and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students in a dynamic learning environment.
A passion for teaching languages and inspiring students to explore new cultures.
Experience and a high comfort level in Google for schools is required.

Required General Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education Degree
Knowledge of a student-centered highly structured direct instruction model
The ability to use technology (especially Google) as a tool to enhance learning
Must be living in the Edmonton area in order to be contacted and interviewed

Most recent evaluation (principal, mentor teacher in the AFX, supervisor, etc.)
Valid Alberta Interim or Professional Certificate
Current Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (current within the past 6 months) from a Canadian police service. You will not be contacted for an interview unless you have one that is current or in the process of getting one.
