We're looking for a motivated, organized, and resourceful
Government & Industry Relations Coordinator
to join our growing team. This is an entry-level to mid-level role with real opportunity to grow into a leadership position as we expand our national and international partnerships.
Role Summary
The Government & Industry Relations Coordinator will support our business development team by helping identify funding opportunities, coordinating outreach with key stakeholders, and assisting in the preparation of proposals, applications, and presentations. This person will play a vital role in supporting the company's relationships with
government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations
.
Key Responsibilities1. Opportunity Research & Intelligence
Monitor federal, provincial, and municipal funding programs, grant opportunities, and procurement initiatives relevant to shipbuilding, ship repair, marine infrastructure, workforce development, and clean technology.
Track announcements and developments related to programs such as shipyard modernization, innovation funding, and Blue Economy initiatives.
Prepare briefing notes and summaries for leadership.
2. Stakeholder Engagement Support
Coordinate meetings and site visits with government officials, defence and Coast Guard representatives, industry partners, and community groups.
Maintain organized contact lists and engagement records.
Draft follow-up communications and assist in relationship management.
3. Grant & Proposal Support
Assist in preparing background information and drafting sections of funding and grant applications.
Track submissions and deadlines and maintain a clear grant calendar.
Support the development of presentations and supporting materials for funding partners.
4. Event & Outreach Coordination
Support planning for site tours, public engagement events, waterfront announcements, and industry showcases.
Help coordinate company participation in government and industry forums, conferences, and workshops.
5. Communications & Reporting
Draft briefing decks, letters, and engagement reports.
Help ensure consistent messaging across government and industry engagement.
Contribute to regular reporting for internal leadership and board updates.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in business, political science, communications, or a related field; relevant work experience will also be considered.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders.
Interest in government relations, funding programs, or marine industry development.
Experience or familiarity with the marine, infrastructure, or defense sectors considered an asset.
