The Cochrane Golf Club is now accepting applications for the Maintenance Superintendent position.

Cochrane is located on highway 1A approximately 35 km west of Calgary, Alberta. Cochrane is a growing community of nearly 40,000 people which offers affordable living, excellent amenities and abundant recreational opportunities.

The golf course is a 9 hole par 35 course situated just north of the Bow River with mature trees and 2 water features. The layout is suited to all skill levels of golfers providing an enjoyable fun atmosphere for a 9 hole round. The course is known for its excellent maintained turf conditions and overall well kept course conditions.

Description of Role

The successful applicant will be dedicated to achieving success in turfgrass management. As the Maintenance Superintendent you will form part of the management team and work in conjuntion with the Golf Operations Manager and the Golf Facilities Manager to provide the best golfng experince for our guests year round. Your key role will be providing excellence in turf management. You will be required to report to Cochrane Golf Club ownership as required.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Maintenance Superintendent (working role) will be expected to:

Report daily on course conditions

2.

Provide scheduling and daily planning

3.

Operation, maintenance and repair of the irrigation system

4.

Participate in all aspects of the golf course maintenance program

5.

Assist in training and evaluation of employees

6.

Apply fertilizers and pesticides

7.

Supervise staff in projects and in-house construction

8.

Perform or coordinate all necessary equipment repairs and maintenance

9.

Coordinate efforts with Golf Facilities Manager and Golf Operation

Manager

Desired Experience

. The successful applicant will possess the following:

- turf education or relevant experience

- a minimum of four years turf maintenance experience

- good supervisory, training and coaching skills

- good verbal and written communication skills

- ability to operate successfully in a motivated team environment

- a desire to learn and lead, with a good work ethic and sense of humor.

- a pesticide applicators certificate or the ability to obtain one

- a familiarity with fertilizers and pesticides as well as proper calibration and application

- familiarity with the operation and maintenance of automated irrigation equipment. - strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to coordinate and facilitate all repairs and routine maintenance of all equipment

-working hands on alongside the crew with the ability to operate all equipment

Compensation and Perks

This is a year round position salaried position. Golfing privileges.

Additional Details

This is a year-round position. This is a working Superintendent role. The successful applicant will be actively work on all aspects of daily course maintenance and projects. Particular focus will be required on Turf Management, Irrigation operation and Equipment repair and general maintenance
