Position Overview
The General Manager, Freight is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the strategic vision of the freight division. This individual will oversee all aspects of freight operations, business development, and client relations to ensure long-term growth, operational efficiency, and market leadership. The EGM will drive profitability across air, ground, and sea logistics while positioning the organization as a trusted, best-in-class provider of freight solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

• Develop and execute long-term strategies to drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
• Lead marketing, pricing, and promotional initiatives to strengthen brand presence and market share.
• Represent the company to clients, partners, and industry stakeholders, reinforcing credibility and trust.
• Establish business policies and operational frameworks that align with corporate goals and regulatory standards.

Operational & Financial Management

• Oversee all freight operations across ground, air, and sea logistics to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
• Manage P&L performance, budget planning, and cost optimization to achieve financial objectives.
• Analyze operational data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to local, national, and international freight regulations.
• Oversee procurement and vendor relationships to support operational needs.

Leadership & People Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team focused on collaboration and service excellence.
• Set performance standards, conduct evaluations, and provide regular feedback.
• Partner with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent across freight operations and sales.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Client Relations & Market Expansion

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
• Understand client logistics challenges and deliver tailored, innovative freight solutions.
• Serve as the senior executive liaison for major clients, ensuring strong communication and partnership value.

Qualifications & Experience

• 7-10 years of senior experience in international freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation management.
• Proven success in driving business growth, client acquisition, and operational efficiency in a competitive freight market.
• Strong knowledge of air, sea, and ground freight logistics and related regulations.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including budget management and P&L accountability.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Strategic thinker with strong business development and process improvement expertise.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
