Rogers is investing in our service expansion plans and will be growing our Network team to support a number of initiatives to extend our network reach to more costumers and businesses nationally. This position, reporting to the Manager, Access Network Expansion Design, will deliver against Service Expansion Plans for rural and underserved communities as well as out of footprint greenfield projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete GIS modelling & support analysis of access network expansion opportunities as tasked by Unified Fibre Planners.
  • Leverage GIS modeling tools.
  • Mine data and script programs to help analyze opportunities and support feasibility assessments of service expansion opportunities.
  • Liaise with Unified Fibre Planners and OPE Planners to update models and feasibility assessments with survey & preliminary engineering results from D&B engagements.
  • Produce maps.
  • Complete aspects of network expansion opportunity bid submissions as tasked by the Manager, Access Network Expansions.
  • Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data.
  • Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
  • Continually update database to reflect all upcoming, ongoing and future opportunities
  • Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.
  • Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.
  • Work in collaboration with all applicable network teams.
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication, analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to present and inform technology ideas and principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical and pleasant manner. Ability to work from assigned objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units.
  • 1 to 2 years object-oriented programming with various languages including JavaScript, HTML, Python, PL-SQL, VBA, FME is an asset.
  • Some working knowledge of enterprise databases such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server.
  • 3 years of experience with GIS systems and data sciences.
  • Education, experience should include undergraduate university degree or community college diploma with CET certification or equivalent experience in computer engineering, GIS or data science.
