Reporting to the Manager, Geographic Information Systems, the

GIS Application Developer

will support the organization in developing, supporting and managing our GIS applications and functions along with other related business and IT systems.

Responsibilities:



Developing, maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting and testing of GIS desktop and web-based applications Utilize scripting languages to automate repetitive GIS tasks, streamline workflows, and improve overall efficiency Assisting with report writing, query building and data extractions to support end users and business applications in the organization Conducting interviews to gather end-user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, and other methods. Communicating changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements -- verbally or through written documentation -- to project leads, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood Helping to analyze processes, design workflows and implement other changes to gain efficiency and achieve process automation Creating process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction and information to stakeholders and/or the project team. Developing training materials, application documentation, delivering training sessions, and coaching system users in the use of required software and other technical tools Continuously research and learn about emerging advancements in GIS tools Keep GIS Manager accurately informed of work progress, problems and suggestions for improvement

Qualifications:



At minimum a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Geomatics Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline Minimum 2 years' experience developing web and desktop GIS solutions incorporating ESRI technology. Proficient with HTML 5, JavaScript, .NET development platform (C#, VB.Net, Core/MVC), Python Experience working in an AGILE project management environment Strong self-direction and initiative skills Knowledge of spatial and non-spatial databases, data modeling and SQL querying Knowledge of ESRI libraries/ArcObjects and web service technologies Awareness of GIS concepts and principles Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products Communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
