Ciena est a la recherche d'un(e) gestionnaire de conception optomecanique passionne(e) et experimente(e) pour diriger une equipe d'ingenieurs et de concepteurs. Relevant du directeur du developpement optique, le ou la titulaire du poste aura pour mandat de superviser les activites de conception optomecanique, d'assurer le developpement professionnel des membres de son equipe - en particulier les employes juniors - et de favoriser la collaboration avec les differents groupes de developpement.
L'equipe de conception est responsable d'effectuer la modelisation mecanique, thermique et de contrainte des composants optiques, de definir la specification en collaboration avec l'equipe optique, de planifier le plan d'experience et d'analyser les resultats de ces experiences pour confirmer et optimiser la conception afin d'atteindre les objectifs de performance.
Responsabilites principales :Superviser et encadrer une equipe d'ingenieurs en conception optomecanique, en assurant la qualite des livrables et le respect des echeanciers.
Planifier, prioriser et attribuer les taches selon les besoins des projets et les forces des membres de l'equipe.
Offrir du mentorat technique et assurer la formation continue des employes, notamment les ingenieurs en debut de carriere.
Collaborer etroitement avec les groupes internes de test, de procedes, de conception de puces optiques et de conception optique au bureau de Quebec.
Maintenir une collaboration efficace avec les equipes situees a Ottawa, afin d'assurer une integration fluide des composantes mecaniques aux systemes optiques developpes a l'echelle de l'entreprise.
Participer activement aux revues de conception et a la definition des strategies de developpement technologique.
Contribuer a l'elaboration et a l'amelioration des processus d'ingenierie et des outils de conception.
Requis :Baccalaureat en genie mecanique, physique ou discipline connexe
Minimum de 6 a 8 ans d'experience en conception optomecanique
Solide comprehension des contraintes thermiques, vibratoires et d'alignement optique dans des systemes de haute precision.
Excellentes aptitudes en communication, leadership, et collaboration interfonctionnelle.

Ciena is seeking a passionate and experienced Optomechanical Design Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers. Reporting to the Director of Optical Development, the selected candidate will be responsible for supervising all optomechanical design activities, supporting the professional growth of team members--particularly junior engineers--and fostering close collaboration with other development teams.
The optomechanical design team is responsible for the mechanical, thermal, and stress modeling of optical components, defining specifications in collaboration with the optical design team, planning experiments, and analyzing results to confirm and optimize designs in order to meet performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of optomechanical design engineers, ensuring high technical quality and on-time delivery.
Plan, organize, and assign tasks based on project priorities and individual strengths.
Provide technical mentorship and continuous training for team members, with a focus on developing junior engineers.
Work closely with internal groups in Quebec including testing, process engineering, optical chip design, and optical design teams.
Maintain effective collaboration with Ciena teams in Ottawa to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into broader optical systems.
Actively participate in design reviews and the development of technology roadmaps.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, methods, and tools.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in optomechanical design.
Strong understanding of thermal, vibrational, and optical alignment constraints in high-precision systems.
Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Assets:
Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
Team management experience.
Experience and/or knowledge in:
Finite element analysis (e.g., ANSYS)
Photonic component design
Thermomechanical stress optimization
Assembly processes for integrated circuits

Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is $112,400 - $179,600.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
