, you will support the execution of geotechnical investigations and materials testing services for a variety of civil infrastructure and development projects. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in field work, data analysis, technical reporting, and project coordination, while building the skills necessary to advance toward professional licensure. Key responsibilities may include:
Perform geotechnical and materials field investigations
Prescribe and perform geotechnical and materials laboratory testing
Assist with preparation of geotechnical and materials reports
Concrete testing
Soils compaction testing
Asphalt inspection and testing
Construction quality monitoring
Field supervision of construction activity
Preparation of inspection and testing reports
Working with the team to prepare land development and municipal design drawings in accordance with the guidelines for the project
Preparation of design calculations, modelling, and other project analysis
Participate in the development of project cost estimates, statement of quantities, and budget and proposal estimates
Preparation of design and other project reports and correspondence
Preparation of project related construction tender/contract documents
Quality control of design drawings and other project information
Key requirements include:
University graduate with a degree in civil or geological engineering
Minimum 1 year of relevant geotechnical experience
Eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Engineers NS
Strong working knowledge of common geotechnical engineering software
Ability to self-initiate and solve problems
Attention to detail
Strong written and oral communication (English) skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
