A Field Technician supports engineering projects by the collection of factual data from sites. They report to a Field Service Manager, who schedules their work, and they coordinate closely with engineering staff on individual project sites. They are required to travel to site locations from the office, and as needed transport equipment, supplies and samples. While the role is predominately in the field, assistance in the laboratory for various housekeeping and maintenance tasks is required.
Duties
Supervise installation and testing of geostructural systems, including footings, tieback anchors, caissons, helical piles, micropiles, geopiers, raker and corner braces.
Perform site inspections, prepare field reports, and ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
Monitor construction activities to confirm adherence to design specifications.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
Assist in quality assurance and material testing as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering or geotechnical projects.
Experience as a Lab Technician in geotechnical or construction materials testing considered an asset.
Strong technical knowledge of geostructural systems and construction methods.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently on-site in varying conditions.
