About Our Opportunity
The Geomatics System Analyst will be a member of a team that supports Nova Scotia Government's Spatial Data Infrastructure and GIS license administration. The Geomatics System Analyst works closely with other GIS System Analyst and geographic data custodians in provincial departments and agencies to ensure that GIS systems and software licensing is available to clients and partners.
Under the general direction of the GIS Systems Administrator, the Geomatics Systems Analyst is a highly skilled, experienced, detail-oriented geomatics professional who demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of GIS concepts and is innovative in mapping technologies, relational databases, geographic data analysis tools and methodologies. The successful candidate may interact with and provide training and support to many clients and partners.
Primary Accountabilities
The Geomatics System Analyst is responsible for the following:
xc2xb7 Assist in the administration of the GIS Enterprise Agreement for software
xc2xb7 Work with clients to determine best approach in their licensing needs
xc2xb7 Assist in the administration and maintenance of the Nova Scotia Geospatial Infrastructure
xc2xb7 Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of standards, procedures, and guidelines for government's Spatial Data Infrastructure
xc2xb7 Resolves technical challenges for accessing geographic data
xc2xb7 Research and development of new products or new technology to improve services
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must have one of the following educational/professional experience levels:
xc2xb7 Graduation from an approved technical school in the field of Geomatics plus 8 years related experience
xc2xb7 Bachelor's degree in a relevant Geomatics field plus 5 years related experience.
An equivalent combination of training or experience may be considered.
To be considered, you will have also knowledge and/or experience in the following:
xc2xb7 Geographic Information Systems and related infrastructure
xc2xb7 Scripting for the purpose of the automation of tasks
xc2xb7 GIS services (for e.g., map, feature, etc.)
xc2xb7 Prioritizing, assigning, scheduling, and monitoring tasks
xc2xb7 Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to participate in a team environment while building and maintaining relationships with a variety of partners
xc2xb7 Self-starter with a positive attitude, attention to detail, and problem solving
The following would be considered an asset:
xc2xb7 Experience with administering software licenses
xc2xb7 Experience with Nova Scotia GIS data
xc2xb7 Experience with linear referencing
xc2xb7 ArcGIS Server configuration
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
xc2xb7 Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
xc2xb7 May be required to work overtime on occasion

Salary Range: $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
