GeoNOVA is the provincial mapping program, providing geomatics solutions for departments and agencies across provincial government. GeoNOVA's vision is to ensure geographic information supports the Government of Nova Scotia in achieving excellence in decision making and service delivery.
About Our Opportunity
We are looking for a Geomatics Systems Analyst (CSO 3) to work closely on Nova Scotia's Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) with other skilled professionals to provide technical and operational support.
Primary Accountabilities

• Build, manage and maintain standalone ArcGIS Server sites as well as ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
• Monitor servers, network, software, and storage proactively applying optimization Develop scripts and other forms of automation to ensure SDI performance
• Proactively investigate and resolve highly technical geomatics systems issues
• Complete installation, upgrades and patches for provincial SDI software
• Work closely with other IT Professionals to identify and resolve technical issues
• Administration of web server technology such as Microsoft Internet Information Server and Linux Apache
• Contribute to standards and best practices for the provincial SDI
• Conduct research and evaluate new geomatics technologies to recommend initiatives, solutions, and best practices to optimize data input, maintenance, analysis, output and partner opportunities
• This position deals with private GIS service vendors, and internal and external clients; this requires good communication skills, both written and verbal. The analyst also assists other provincial government departments with their spatial information requirements by providing technical direction and support to fulfil their mandates for the delivery of GIS data, services and applications.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of three (3) years' experience or graduation from a recognized technology program plus three (3) years and six (6) months of experience (or the equivalent combination of training and experience).
In addition, you hold the following skills/experience:

• In-depth experience of ArcGIS Enterprise 11.X and above technologies and administration
• Experience with geomatics systems such as GIS, hardware, software, infrastructure and database concepts.
• Experience in programming and scripting languages such as Python
• Experience with operating systems, server environments, and an understanding of how they operate
• Analytical skills required to diagnose, repair, or mitigate, issues with software, hardware or servers
• Ability to work under pressure while monitoring projects, day-to-day tasks, and problem
• Strong inter-personal skills to maintain positive and trusted partner relationships.
• Basic knowledge of project management methods to coordinate rollouts and system upgrades.

Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Working Conditions
-Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
-May be required to work overtime on occasion.
-The majority of time is spent in an office environment.
-Travel within communities across Nova Scotia may occasionally be required.

Pay Grade: PR 14
Salary Range: $2,653.85 - $3,231.58 Bi-Weekly
