Key Accountabilities





Job Title





Important Tasks / Activities / Outcomes





Safety





Understand and mitigate safety concerns in the field.

Provide input into daily tailgate meetings to enhance safety protocols.

Complete safety documentation including but not limited to job safety analyses, risk assessments, and equipment and workplace inspections.


Surveying and Prospecting





Assist with project preparation and logistics.

Conduct geochemical and (rarely) geophysical surveys and prospecting activities.


Core Processing





Support core processing tasks such as geotechnical logging, geological logging, sampling, core photography, specific gravity measurements, and sample shipping in collaboration with Geotechnicians and Project Managers on-site.


Mapping, Interpretation and Quality Assurance





Support geological mapping and interpretation, contributing to the overall understanding of project sites.

Assist with data acquisition, data compilation and report writing.

Ensure the quality of data captured during programs meets company standards.


Supervision





Supervise drilling activities, including drill site setup, progress tracking, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Assist with updating project budgets and drill tracking.

Oversee geology interns and field support staff, ensuring their effective contribution to project objectives.

Undertake supportive roles in managing projects with potential to manage small scale field programs.

Required





Education





Bachelor's degree in Geology or satisfying the Geoscientists Canada's Knowledge and Experience guide.


Experience





GIT II - Minimum 2 years prior experience in mineral exploration or related field.

GIT III - Minimum 4 years prior experience in mineral exploration or related field.


Designations & Certifications





Registered as a Geologist-in-Training with APEGA, OGQ or other provincial legislative body.

Standard First Aid and CPR level C certified.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities





Able to take on projects independently and confidently in the office (when applicable) and in the field.

Be able to contribute ideas and participate in larger projects.

Provide a good understanding about industry standards.

Familiarity and application of the Dahrouge Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Plan and the Professional Practice Management Plan (must be reviewed and signed during orientation).


Working Conditions




Fieldwork




Exposure to hard weather conditions, such as extreme temperatures, precipitation, or challenging terrain. These factors can contribute to discomfort and physical exertion/strain. Field environments may pose hazards like wildlife encounters, challenging topography, or adverse weather events, with severity and frequency varying by project and season. Geological core logging can involve lifting of up to 60lbs repetitively and periods of intense concentration and pressure.



Office work




Generally controlled, but periods of intense concentration and pressure may occur, especially during deadlines. Hazards are minimal compared to the field, with potential for discomfort during extended computer work.



Overall




Safety: Strong commitment to safety required, with the need for adherence to protocols and appropriate PPE in the field. * Variable conditions: Exposure to workplace hazards varies based on project, location, and season, demanding adaptability.
