Your Opportunity
We are currently searching for a Geologist in Training to join our Canadian mining team. As a Geologist in Training, you will be a member of a multidisciplinary team working in energy and resources, primarily on metal, coal and large oil sands mining projects. Work will include various stages in the project life cycle, from exploration and site investigations, through conceptual design, construction, closure and reclamation. Our geological project work typically involves the planning and execution of complex field work scopes and the production of high-quality datasets and client deliverables.
Applicants must be prepared to travel and be in the field for assignment intervals of 2 to 3 weeks regularly up to 50% annually. This role is classified as full-time employment with benefits with an estimated 37.5 hours per week.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
Exemplify Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines.
Participate in the planning and completion of geological/geotechnical site investigations. This may include instrumentation, logging, sampling, and field testing.
Generate and/or update technical drawings, figures and models.
Assist in the preparation of technical design documents under limited supervision.
Assist in the preparation of project proposals under limited supervision.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
Ability to conduct work in a safe manner maintaining a high degree of situational awareness.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (both written and oral communication).
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Experience conducting remote field work in challenging environments is an asset.
Work experience in mining or resource industries is an asset.
Experience with geoscience-related software programs is an asset (ArcGIS, Leapfrog, etc.).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geoscience, or related field
G.I.T., registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or Alberta Professional Engineers Geoscientists Association (APEGA).
Seeking 0 to 6 years mining industry or consulting experience. Co-op or Intern experience is applicable.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and satisfactory Driver's Abstract, per Stantec's Safe Driving Policy.

This position may have additional qualification requirements depending on work assignments. Additional qualifications will be defined in Project Specific Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Plans.
