The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the Clinical Genetics Service. This service provides diagnosis and counseling in the areas of prenatal, cancer, pediatric and adult genetics to patients affected by or at risk of genetic disorders.
Responsibilities:
Genetic assessment, counselling and support to the Clinic's patients
Providing genetic counseling to patients regarding cancer genetics and the OBSP High Risk program
Interpretation and implementation of organizational and departmental policies and procedures as required
Participation in department meetings/rounds
Participation in education and teaching rounds of general public, medical students, health care providers and hospital staff
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling required
Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) board certified (or eligible for certification) or equivalent
2-3 years previous clinical experience is preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional and capable of developing effective working relationships
Familiarity with the use of electronic genetic databases and reference resources
Able to perform the essential duties of the position
Satisfactory attendance and performance required
