Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Classroom Teacher to join our teaching team at TaOtha Community School. The successful candidate will plan, deliver, and assess engaging learning experiences that support student growth in literacy, numeracy, and Stoney culture. Teachers at SEA schools are expected to integrate land-based learning, uphold high expectations for student achievement, and contribute positively to school and community life.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Alberta curriculum in alignment with SEA's education priorities and cultural framework.
Incorporate Stoney language and cultural teachings in daily instruction and classroom activities.
Integrate land-based and outdoor learning opportunities, collaborating with Elders and knowledge keepers.
Assess and monitor student progress using SEA-approved tools (e.g., Fountas & Pinnell, EYE, PATs).
Implement literacy and numeracy interventions as needed (e.g., Road to Reading, Science of Reading).
Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.
Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and community engagement.
Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and communication with parents and administrators.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed.)
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification
Experience working in Indigenous or community-based education settings is an asset
Knowledge of Stoney Nakoda culture, language, and traditions is an asset
Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
Commitment to ongoing professional growth and student success
