Catering experience is an asset.Training will commence in August 2024, date to be determined.Subject to intermittent layoffs during holidays and reading breaks.Required:

  • Level 1 Food Safe.
  • Valid B.C drivers license.
  • Due to limited public transportation for early morning and late evening shifts, it is required to have reliable personal transportation in order to arrive for shifts starting as early for 6am or ending as late as 12am, 7 days a week.
  • Successful applicants must be able to work varied shifts as required which may include evenings and weekends.
Job SummaryPerforms the duties of a General Worker Heavy I :
  • Washes, scrubs, mops, and cleans areas and operates pot washing equipment to clean large cooking utensils in the food services unit.
  • Removes garbage, cleans garbage cans and disposes of garbage.
  • Lifts heavy pieces of equipment and supplies.
and in addition may perform additional special duties, such as:
  • Transporting food, supplies, receipts and equipment, operating a University vehicle on a daily schedule.
  • Assisting to receive and reconcile shipments, packing slips and requisitions.
  • Assisting to maintain, organize, and secure Food Service Department storerooms.
  • Advising when routine reorders are required.
  • Performing other duties similar in scope and complexity.
Job RequirementsQualifications:
  • A minimum of two years\' experience as a General Worker Heavy I, including experience performing the special duties required, or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • Working knowledge of personal hygiene standards and effective sanitation and housekeeping procedures in kitchen and dining room work.
  • Ability to read and write English, work accurately with figures, keep routine records, and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Good physical health for lifting and carrying heavy objects; must be prepared to take a medical examination.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Valid B.C. Driver\'s License.
  • Must be willing and able to work in locations as assigned and on shifts, including weekends, as required.
