An integral member of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), the General Radiology and CT Education & Practice Lead assumes oversight of professional practice, policy, and staff education considerations across general radiology and computed tomography (CT). This includes being accountable to maintaining relationships and close collaboration with operational general radiology and CT leadership (manager and supervisors), interprofessional colleagues (radiologist division head), and other stakeholders within JDMI and at the broader organizational and professional level. The role involves high level support of optimization and standardization (where relevant) of policy and practice across general radiology and CT, aligning with other modalities where appropriate, and informing and guiding the work of the General Radiology and CT Practice Resources. It will also involve leading the Technologist Image Quality Peer Learning Program at the modality level, including Quality Rounds, under the oversight of the Manager, Education & Practice. Finally, the General Radiology and CT Education & Practice Lead will serve as a champion and mentor for research and academic practice within the modality, leading process improvement and knowledge translation while also enlisting necessary resources and support for other staff to do the same. The Education & Practice Lead must demonstrate high standards of clinical practice knowledge, skill, and patient care, while also maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aligned policies and practices across JDMI partner sites (both locally and at the corporate level). It is expected that the Education & Practice Lead will participate in academic and professional growth/development activities, courses and programs and also to develop mechanisms to support other staff in engaging in such activities. Seen as a leader within the broader medical imaging team, the Education & Practice Lead will both lead and participate in quality initiatives and program development across the JDMI partner hospitals, considering staff needs while maintaining clinical operational workflows and processes. The Education & Practice Lead will perform cross-functional duties consistent with job classification, as required. Note: This position will include a combination of imaging duties in General Radiology and/or CT and administrative time to support education and practice. Responsibilities:

  • Fosters and informs an environment where staff are empowered to be appropriately equipped to provide safe and competent care through relevant training
  • Demonstrates and fosters appropriate practical and pedagogical approaches to adult teaching and learning
  • Collaborates with relevant partners within JDMI to integrate best practice in general radiography and CT
  • Collaborates with relevant partners outside of JDMI to optimize aligned and informed experiences and opportunities in clinical education
  • Maintains records relating to professional practice and education
  • Recognizes and addresses opportunities for innovation and growth related to staff education
  • Champions opportunities for academic engagement and growth amongst staff
  • Identifies and mentors staff in academic pursuits that advance general radiography and CT priorities, and those of Medical Imaging, and/or broader JDMI partner sites
  • Initiates and engages in relevant continuous quality improvement (CQI) to address identified operational or programmatic challenges as they relate to best practice
  • Oversees the Technologist Image Quality Peer Learning Program for General Radiography and CT
  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention\xe2\x80\x99s of the Act, in a timely manner
Qualifications:
  • At minimum, completion of a masters degree in medical imaging, education, leadership, health services, related to medical imaging or practice or recognized equivalent required
  • At minimum, over 4-6 years of practical and related experience required
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) required
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) required
  • Current registration with the CAMRT preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, level II: Basic Rescuer certification, required
  • Completion of CTIC Certification or commitment to attain certification
  • Word processing skills on a PC, required
