Position Summary: Southern Health-Sant\xc3\xa9 Sud and the Surgery Program at Boundary Trails Health Centre invite applications for a General Orthopedic Surgeon. This will be a rural practice for a distinctly unique General Orthopedic program. Boundary Trails Health Centre is a community based hospital which partners with local Medical Clinics to provide physician support services to the hospital and community. Boundary Trails Health Centre is located between The City of Winkler and The City of Morden in beautiful Southern Manitoba. These two communities are growing and are rich with diversity and local amenities which is ideal for families and professionals. We offer varied options for shopping, an ever growing economic employment base, new housing, an array of city services and amenities as well as excellent educational opportunities in both official languages, and child care ressources. We also offer many recreation activities in the community and area such as children\'s camps, organized sports, lakes, parks, skiing, laser tag, museums, dance, arts, zip lining, hiking, biking, golf, beaches and swimming. In addition, our communities are located within 100 km for both U.S shopping and the City of Winnipeg. Lastly, our communities are rich with community support. This General Orthopedics position is part of a team of (4) four general orthopedic surgeons who share balanced call, equitable operating time, and a team approach to covering hospital obligations. Call responsibilities are expected to be one (1) in four (4). Other responsibilities include participation in the Provincial Manitoba Orthopedic Surgery Program, General orthopedic trauma, and a substantial part of the practice will be providing general arthroplasty and non arthroplasty surgeries for patients referred locally and from across the province. This position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibility and requires that individuals with clinical and teaching skills participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and promotion of rural surgical and orthopedic medicine.

The Orthopedic program at Boundary Trails Health Centre incorporates a rich mix of emergent and elective orthopedic, arthroplasty and non arthroplasty surgery. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and will have certification in Orthopedic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Fellowship training in Arthroplasty is also required. Additional Fellowship training in any of the following areas is preferred: Trauma, Hand, Foot and Ankle.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Must have certification in Orthopedic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Must have Fellowship training in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty
  • Fellowship or additional training in any of the following: Trauma, Hand. Foot/Ankle orthopedics
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
