About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial
General Manager/Business Unit Leader - Residential Drywall
to lead the launch and growth of our residential division across Alberta. This is a high-impact role where you will be responsible for building a team, winning projects, implementing systems, and executing successful work from start to finish.
You will have the autonomy to design your approach while leveraging the broader Project X platform to deliver top-tier results for leading homebuilders and developers across the province.
Key Responsibilities
As General Manager, you will be responsible for:
Operating and managing the
residential drywall division
, focused on high-volume single- and multi-family new construction.
Maintaining strong relationships with
homebuilders, developers, and general contractors
.
Participating in
estimating and bidding
efforts, including takeoffs, scope development, and competitive pricing.
Managing
material procurement
, supplier coordination, and jobsite logistics.
Hiring, training, and overseeing crews, including
boarding teams, tapers, finishers, and subcontractors
.
Driving project performance from
framing through to turnover
, ensuring timelines, quality, and compliance.
Streamlining
operational systems and SOPs
to support scalability and efficiency.
Ensuring all work meets applicable
building codes and inspection requirements
.
Maintaining jobsite safety, compliance documentation, and proactive issue resolution.
Managing schedules and cost tracking tools to drive
margin control and productivity
.
Collaborating with executive leadership on
division strategy, budgeting, and personnel planning
.
Coordinating with marketing and recruiting teams to support
division visibility and workforce development
.
Working collaboratively with our existing
Director of Business Development
to support growth, strategic targeting, and client relationship management.
What We are Looking For
We are seeking a drywall leader who thrives on building and scaling , someone ready to take ownership of a business unit with long-term upside and the freedom to lead.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
5-10+ years of experience in
residential drywall construction
(boarding, taping, texture, finishing).
Strong track record managing
field crews and subcontractors
on new home construction projects.
Proficiency and understanding of
estimating, quoting, and cost management
for residential work.
Excellent understanding of builder timelines, QA/QC standards, and building envelope integration.
Familiarity with
Alberta residential building codes
and inspection processes.
Skilled in
project planning, scheduling
, and field supervision.
Proficient with construction and estimating software.
Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and innovative.
Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
A network of trusted
builder or trades contacts
is an asset.
