Job Description

Job Summary



The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Port Alberni Friendship Center in collaboration with the Executive Director, ensuring that all organization functions operate smoothly and efficiently. The GM will implement strategies to improve productivity, increase efficiency, and enhance participant satisfaction, while also ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management



In collaboration with the Executive Director, the GM will lead and manage all departments within the organization, including operations, finance, marketing, and human resources. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication. The GM will work closely with the ED and share information regarding departmental needs, employee feedback, and organizational challenges. This collaboration helps create a cohesive working environment where everyone is informed and aligned. The ED & GM will hold regular meetings to discuss organizational performance, share updates from their respective areas, and address challenges collaboratively.

Strategic Planning

In collaboration with the ED & Board of Directors, the GM will develop and implement Board strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Analyze program needs and gaps to identify opportunities for growth and expansion Analyze program needs and gaps to identify opportunities for growth and expansion In collaboration with the ED, the GM will ensure that resources are allocated effectively to meet both operational needs and strategic goals.

Financial Oversight



In collaboration with the Executive Director & Finance Team, prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial targets are met. Implement processes and systems to improve productivity and reduce costs

Stakeholder Relationship Management



Build and maintain strong relationships with users, partners organizations and First Nations. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through effective service and support.

Staff Management



In collaboration with HR Team, recruit, train, and mentor staff to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to employees.

Compliance and Risk Management



Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements Identify and mitigate potential organizational risks

Reporting and Analysis



In collaboration with Dept Team Leads & Finance, prepare regular reports for the Executive Director detailing operational performance, financial status, and strategic initiatives. Utilize data analysis to inform decision-making and improve organizational operations. Ensure all funding reports are completed, reviewed and submitted as per their agreements Review all contracts and ensure all requirements are met in each department.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management, or a related field.

3 - 5 years

of experience in a managerial role, preferably within a not-for-profit Indigenous organization. Proven track record of successful leadership and operational management. Strong financial understanding and experience in budgeting and forecasting. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Pay: $85,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
