Summary:
Medicine Hat Minor Hockey is looking for a an outgoing individual who possesses a management background with experience creating and implementing development programs to join our team as General Manager .
To lead and direct the day-to-day hockey operations of the association, reporting to the President and Board of Directors.
The position is responsible for creating a successful minor hockey program through the development and implementation of a solid player development model from Timbits right through to U18. We are seeking a dynamic leader who can lead and direct both the players and coaches, and also demonstrates the ability to build respectful and collaborative relationships with players, coaches, parents and the community.
Key Reponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide oversight pertaining to all hockey related matters for the MHMHA office and report to the Board of Directors as necessary
Enforcement of MHMHA Bylaws and Policies
Liason to Hockey Alberta, AEHL, and CAHL and media requests
Responsible for seeking, maintaining and managing sponsorships
Player and Coach development initiatives
Coach selection and retention
Plan, coordinate and execute evaluations and tryouts
Oversee player selection & team formation process
Oversee parent/player complaints and grievances by coaches and team officials
Shall sit on any committee as a non-voting member as ordered by the President
Plan and organize coaching clinics, referee clinics, summer camps and ID skates
Required to attend all meetings of the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License and Insurance
Business or Sports management diploma is an asset
The successful candidate will be required to submit a Criminal Records Check, and Child Welfare Check
Knowledgable with programs such as Microsoft Excel and Office 365
Knowledge of Hockey Canada and Hockey Alberta Guidelines and Policies is an asset.
Able to present themselves professionally and communicate appropriately.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
Be a self-starter, possessing strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to effectively handle numerous tasks with tight deadlines
Have the ability to work under pressure and prioritize accordingly
