Melo LLP is currently searching for a General Manager for one of our agribusiness clients located in the Middlesex County, ON area. The ideal person for this position would be detail oriented, a keen problem solver who is focused on efficiency and who takes a hands-on approach to management. The General Manager will provide operational oversight for three sectors of the business. In this role, you will be accountable for operational effectiveness, quality standards, safety, and the marketing/growing of the cash crops. As GM you would be working directly with the owners and managing the farm business activities on a daily basis. Key Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Marketing of cash crops \xc2\xb7 Maintaining HAACP records, and farm data spreadsheets \xc2\xb7 Work with government grant programs \xc2\xb7 Agronomy \xe2\x80\x93 regular soil testing, making fertilizer, seed, and crop protections decisions \xc2\xb7 Maintaining all crop records \xc2\xb7 Attending agribusiness workshops \xc2\xb7 Ability to do business projections, and Pro-forma \xe2\x80\x93 liaison for the accountant office, lawyers, and bank \xc2\xb7 Coordinate with bookkeeper to manage weekly and monthly accounting entries \xc2\xb7 Ability to purchase capital assets (machinery, equipment, land) \xc2\xb7 Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities to work with farm staff and customers \xc2\xb7 Natural relationship builder- working directly with customers and building the business \xc2\xb7 Strong planning and time management skills \xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills with a strong leadership insight Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 10-15 years\xe2\x80\x99 sales experience \xc2\xb7 Post Secondary degree or diploma in Agricultural Business \xc2\xb7 Strong math and Microsoft Suite skills \xc2\xb7 Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a good driving record \xc2\xb7 Extensive experience in a farming-related field \xc2\xb7 Management experience with a passion for agriculture \xc2\xb7 Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills \xc2\xb7 Superb communication and interpersonal skills \xc2\xb7 Willingness to work overtime as required Additional Information: \xc2\xb7 Competitive compensation package, bonus along with company benefits \xc2\xb7 Must have interest in joining agri-business associations Melo LLP is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of any of the protected reasons as described in the Ontario Human Rights Code.
