The Wet'suwet'en First Nation located in Burns Lake, BC, and is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of.

GENERAL MANAGER



The General Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operation of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation Administration Office, Health, Education & Training, Child and Welfare, Social Development, Operations and Maintenance, Capital and Housing Program, Headstart Program, and other affiliated programs and services under the direction of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation Chief or designate.

This position will be responsible for Human Resources, Supervise all programs and services administered by WFN. Ensure policy and procedures and budgets are followed in accordance with WFN policies.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Human Resources Management

-- Including conducting staff meetings; personnel management; hiring, orienting, training, and terminating employees; drafting contracts; managing timesheets and payroll; administering performance reviews; resolving disputes; conducting team-building workshops and activities; and providing guidance and mentorship to staff.

Program and Service Oversight

-- Supervise all programs and services administered by WFN, including assisting program managers, coordinators, and staff in preparing reports and writing proposals. Encourage staff to develop their programs to meet and exceed responsibilities to membership, including members living outside the community.

Policy and Procedure Compliance

-- Ensure policies and procedures are followed by staff, Council, and within the chain of command.

Financial Management

-- Ensure all budgets are followed and financial statements are prepared monthly. Work closely with the Finance Officer to ensure all required reporting is completed for Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) and other organizations providing services and programs to WFN.

Cultural Promotion

-- Promote Wet'suwet'en culture, language, and values in all programs and services.

Community Engagement

-- Respond to and listen to community members' concerns, advocate on their behalf by providing direction, and ensure concerns are addressed appropriately and respectfully.

Communications

-- Prepare media releases and assist Chief and Council in communications with other First Nations, Hereditary Governments, and non-Wet'suwet'en governments.

Meeting Participation

-- Attend Finance Council Meetings, Community Member Meetings, and other meetings as required.

Correspondence Management

-- Review all incoming mail and direct it to the appropriate person with instructions for follow-up.

Strategic Planning

-- Conduct short- and long-term strategic planning for WFN.

Work Plan Development

-- Draft work plans with deliverables and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



Knowledge of Wet'suwet'en governance, history, culture, and traditional values, mandatory. Knowledge of Wet'suwet'en (Carrier) language an asset. A minimum of 5 years combination of education, skills and experience in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Proposal Writing and Fundraising. Demonstrated experience in CMHC and AANDC housing/Infrastructure policies and procedures and other AANDC programs and services. Knowledge of UNDRIP, Indigenous Rights and Titles as well as thorough understanding of methods of decolonization, self-determination, and Indigenous governance. Excellent interpersonal and team management skills; problem solving skills, conflict resolution Experience in community development and governance/organizational reform and the ability to provide progressive policy advice to the Chief, Council, Community Members and Staff. A proven track of record of financial accountability and transparency. Can demonstrate them to be respected by the indigenous community, participate in community events and potlatches. Ability to write business reports, press releases, presentations, and other documents. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
