Production Manager (takes daily direction from the Assistant Shop Foreman)
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced General Machinist with 5+ years of hands-on experience operating a lathe and drill press. The ideal candidate must be proficient in using vernier calipers and micrometers to ensure precise measurements and quality control. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment. As a machinist in our team, you will play a key role in producing custom, one-of-a-kind products, requiring strong problem-solving skills and adaptability. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working on unique, high-quality parts rather than mass production.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate lathe and drill press to machine parts to exact specifications.
Work on custom orders, ensuring each piece meets design requirements.
Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders to determine machining requirements.
Use vernier calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to verify part accuracy.
Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust settings as needed to maintain quality standards.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining is a plus.
Minimum 5 years of experience operating a lathe and drill press in a machining or manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in reading product specifications.
Ability to read and work from technical drawings and work orders
Experience with metal properties, machining techniques, and tooling selection.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical stamina to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with other machining equipment (e.g., milling machines, surface grinders).
Basic knowledge of CNC machining is a plus.
Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
Health and Safety certified (can provide training if required).
Work Environment:
Manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and metal shavings.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) required (i.e. Safety shoes, safety goggles).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
