Benmet Steel & Metal is a

leader in the Canadian scrap and recycling industry

based out of the heart of Guelph, ON with our second company in Stratford, ON. We are one of the most established and reputable independent scrap metal processors in Ontario. We are looking for motivated individuals to join our growing team.

Overview and Responsibilities:

Our attendants and inspectors are the heart and soul of our yard. They are responsible for grading and sorting material, in addition to assisting customers with unloading or material inquiries. We are looking for a highly experienced yard attendant to add to our team and be a driving force in our service delivery, operations, and growth. The incumbent will report directly to the Operations Manager and play a leading role in day to day operations. This position requires safe and efficient work habits, a working knowledge of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, as well as effective customer service skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Sorting of various types of scrap metal, both non-ferrous and ferrous, for preparation to recycle Grading of incoming material Use of two way radios Build relationships with customers who come into the yard Ability to work safely and independently Safe and efficient use of various hand and power tools Perform minor repairs and upkeep to equipment Maintain cleanliness of sorting areas Work outside in a variety of weather conditions

Requirements:

Experience in scrap and metal recycling Ability to safely use or be trained in use of various power tools and equipment Working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metal materials and grades considered an asset
