• Position Overview: The Labourer is responsible for day-to-day duties on site needed to complete work in a safe and timely fashion and maintain a clean work site. This position must also adhere to our safety program and work as a contributing member of the site team. Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position, candidates must be 18 years of age or older as we require pre-employment testing. Pre-Employment testing includes Alcohol and Drug testing, which includes cannabis, as well as a company specific medical, pulmonary function testing, an audiogram, and a chest x-ray. Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all SECURE safety policies and procedures are followed
  • Be cognizant of and adhere to any site-specific safety requirements
  • Partake in all safety related meetings including: daily tail gates, last minute risk assessment, etc.
  • Sweeping
  • Monitoring

  • Spotting for trucks
  • Willing to deal with public
  • Must be familiar with operating and servicing small equipment such as forklifts, skid steer, cut off saws, stationary baler
  • Responsible for general manual labor and plasma cutting
  • Responsible for sorting non-ferrous material, cutting material to size and packaging
  • Must have an understanding of all power and small hand tools
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Clean, lubricate and fuel all equipment and general site housekeeping
  • Notify supervisor and or repair shop of any required work to be done
  • Other related duties as required
    Qualifications:
    • General laboring and or farm experience an asset but not required
    • Basic comprehension and ability to follow SECURE\xe2\x80\x99s Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site, including but not limited to Tervita\xe2\x80\x99s safety and hazard assessment process\xe2\x80\x9d
    • Must have an understanding of all power and small hand tools
    • Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials
    • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments, and long demanding work days
    • Ability to manage weather and/or seasonal interruptions in work schedule
    • Certification in WHIMS, H2S, CSTS, First Aid would be considered an asset
    • Fit-for-Work each day

Experience

Preferred

• Experience with liquid oxygen, propane and metallurgy would be considered an asset
• Welding experience would be an asset
• Experience work in on demolitions preferred
