The Opportunity:
Terra's Labourer in our Civil department is experienced, safety-orientated, is able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and communicates well with others. Terra's ideal future Labourer has a minimum of 1 year of previous experience working as a construction labourer. Terra's Labourer reports to our Civil Foreman and Superintendent.
A day in the life of the Labourer - roles and responsibilities:
Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards
Load or unload construction materials
Put together and take apart temporary structures
Remove, fill, or compact Earth, often by hand shoveling
Help the Pipelayers and graders with their tasks so that adequate work can be completed on time
Work safely in a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
Work with the Foreman and the crew to ensure culverts, manholes, pipes, conduits and such are installed correctly.
Ensure appropriate consistency on the work and other tasks are executed
Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues
Maintain quality results of work
Work as a team with other crew members on daily activities of the site
Other ad hoc duties when required to support the team and maintain work flow
Qualifications- what you bring to the organization:
Minimum 1 year of construction experience
Wanting to work towards becoming a skilled labourer, Grader and Pipelayer
Willingness and ability to carry out physical demands of the job
Willingness to work full time hours plus some overtime when needed
Safety-orientated
Ability to work in various weather conditions
You use and continually develop construction leadership skills
Ability to commute to sites across the Lower Mainland
Flexibility and willingness to work at different sites in various locations in any given week
Outstanding communication skills and team player
Flexibility and willingness to do other duties as and when required by the team

Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, and carrying, working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
You are an outstanding communicator and team player

You are reliable and can be counted upon
First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset
Understanding of safety and ability to communicate safety issues as they arise
You are comfortable travelling to different sites and meeting locations within the Lower Mainland
You live locally in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland or Coquitlam area
