Labourers at On Side are important team members who, help rebuild and restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Labourers are the MVP of the restoration teams. Willing to learn, love being taught and full of ambition the Labourer knows they're going places in life and this is the first stop on the way to success!

What You'll Do:

Perform heavy lifting and demolition work Remove drywall, flooring, carpet, laminate, etc Haul debris and garbage, clean job sites, and assist with moving contents/packouts Learn emergency water damage, use moisture meters and read hazmat reports Help all teams with various tasks: cross train in Contents, Water Damage and Abatement Record job details using computers and mobile devices Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively

What We're Looking For:

Experience and willingness to do physical, hands-on work A curious mindset with an interest in how things work Strong teamwork and communication skills Attention to detail and ability to follow directions Commitment to safety at all times Valid driver's licence and a clean criminal record (required) Ability to communicate clearly in English Ability to work out of town (including over night) as required

Other stuff that'll help you be successful but isn't mandatory:

Experienced in construction, particularly demolition WHMIS First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Do you have any experience with demolition? If yes, please describe what you have demolished and tools you have used. Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Do you have basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience? Are you comfortable operating a phone to navigate through applications and record info as instructed? Are you comfortable driving a large fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets? If not, are you willing to learn?
Are you able to provide a clean driver's abstract?

Please list any in-home carpentry/renovation skills you may have: Restoration work can be dirty. Flooded basements and sewer backups are the norm. Are you able and willing to work in these conditions? Have you ever used hand and/or power tools? Please describe. Attitude is key! Are you ambitious? Are you easy to get along with and treat others with respect? Are you a good listener and communicator? Do you want to genuinely help co-workers and clients and people in general? Please explain why you would be the best person for this job. Are you physically fit? Can you lift 50lbs and walk upstairs when required? Are you capable of repetitive heavy lifting? Moving furniture, equipment and boxes are the norm in this position so being physically capable is a requirement.
