POSITION SUMMARY



Under the direction of the Seed Plant Supervisor, the General Labourer will primarily be responsible to assist with the operation of processing and packaging, as well as the set up and clean down of seed conditioning and treatment procedures at our seed production facility. With a focus on safety, the ideal candidate will enjoy working with their hands, be receptive to on-the-job training and instruction, be motivated, reliable and take pride in producing a high quality finished product. The General Labourer must follow ISO quality requirements while working in a team atmosphere to support the needs of the Seed department.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



- Perform various forms of physical labour to assist in the successful execution of seed processing and packaging orders from start to finish.

- Assist in the operation of conditioning equipment to sample, clean, and package seed (soybeans and wheat) that meets ISO 9001 standards and other quality requirements.

- Assist in monitoring machinery and equipment to ensure that a consistent and quality product is produced.

- Assist the production/packaging line in a variety of positions, including but not limited to, bagging and palletizing.

- If trained, operate tractors as necessary to move product or equipment around the facility as needed.

- Assist in setting up tractors, wagons and the receiving pit for loading and unloading of product, as well as the clean up process afterwards.

- Operate a lift truck and other lifting devices to move product, equipment, conveyors and wagons around the warehouse and yard, as needed.

- Safely and efficiently move bulk seed by operating augers, conveyors, pneumatic grain vacs and other material handling equipment.

- Participate in daily housekeeping and clean down tasks (i.e., equipment and machinery, receiving pit, wagons, sweeping, facility and yard clean up and grain vac), ensuring a high level of cleanliness is maintained. Clean downs do not include maintenance tasks, unless otherwise directed. Clean downs include cleaning areas with chemical residue. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.

- Complete and maintain appropriate records, as requested (i.e., production output, quality, safety, etc.).

- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.

- Maintain work area in a clean and professional manner at all times, ensuring proper tools and equipment is available when needed.

- Perform daily inspection of tools and equipment, reporting any hazards to the supervisor.

- Work in compliance with all administrative and health and safety policies and procedures, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.

- Report process deficiencies and any administrative or health and safety policy or procedural infractions, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies, to your direct reporting supervisor/manager, or other designate as applicable, for review.

- The General Labourer may be occasionally asked to assist in the Grain Systems department, which may include the preparation of structural foundations, building and positioning forms, rebar and wire mesh for pouring concrete, as well as the assembly of grain bin structures, handling and drying equipment.

- Assist in all departments, as required and directed.

- Other duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS



- Valid Ontario driver's license and means of daily/reliable transportation to and from our main location in Dover Centre (A, AZ or DZ license not required but considered an asset).

- Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.

- Be prepared and punctual for scheduled shifts.

- Be positive and courteous at all times, while maintaining a high level of customer service and professional demeanor; be an ambassador for Devolder Farms Inc.

- Ability to work cooperatively with a team to execute tasks.

- Ability to work in any outdoor work environments on a daily basis (i.e., hot/humid and cold work elements).

- Physically able to perform daily work activities, including but not limited to standing/sitting for long periods of time, handling sharp steel products, individually lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 100 lbs, bending, climbing, reaching, and twisting.

- Shift days and times may vary depending on departmental and/or seasonal demands. Ability to work extended hours and days when needed required.

- Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role.

- CSA steel toed construction grade safety boots in designated area(s).

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS



- Previous work experience with production and packaging of seed products and working within an ISO 9001 regulated environment an asset (or transferable skills and abilities from work experience in a similar work environment).

- Valid lift truck training and certification an asset (in-house training offered).

- Previous experience operating farm machinery and tractors is an asset.

- Willingness to work at heights required; valid training certification is an asset.

- Other valid training certifications are considered an asset and any related previous work experience should be highlighted; i.e., Working at Heights, Fall Arrest, Aerial Lift, Elevated Work Platforms, Hoisting and Rigging, Confined Space, etc.

- Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily work requirements are met.

- Excellent oral and listening communication skills and cooperative team player attitude.

- Demonstrated problem solving skills.

- Highly motivated and extreme attention to detail and accuracy.

- Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
