Reporting to the Project Manager, or their designate. The General Foreperson is responsible to manage and oversee all field construction among various trades on projects or across a portfolio of work including planning, organizing, directing and controlling various aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage and provide leadership for health, safety, environment, and quality programs and policies Assist Project Manager or Division Manager in the planning of assigned projects Executes plan and evaluates schedules and site personnel to ensure project objectives are met Provides leadership to Forman(s) and prioritizes work accordingly Oversees site safety and quality control personnel Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships Monitor job costing, reporting, forecasting, and productivity Oversee field administration: timesheets, project reports, and material purchases Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies Read and interpret reports, such as job cost, labour, projection sheets, and PO entries Acts as brand ambassador for Black & McDonald

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

10+ years of field experience in Utilities/Construction

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Advanced supervisory and leadership skills Advanced site safety supervision Ability to read drawings and project/structural design interpretation Proven planning and scheduling skills Contract Management Risk Management Dispute Resolution and Negotiation Skills Willing and able to travel to site Clean, Valid Drivers' License (Class 1 or 3 with Q endorsement considered an asset) Ground Disturbance Certification

Construction Safety Certifications including the following are considered assets.


Traffic Control Person (TPS) Certification Flagging Certification Confined Space Awareness/Rescue Fall Arrest WHMIS First Aid Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE)
