Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the - Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Acquiring high quality MRI images which assists radiologists and other physicians in making diagnosis for our patients.
  • Participating in student teaching program.
Diagnostic Imaging provides diagnostic services on campus at the Health Sciences Centre as well as other satellite offices located throughout the city. This position may be assigned at either location.

Experience
  • Familiarity with RIS and PACS preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduation from a recognized and accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology with a minimum of two years of training.
  • Must have successfully completed an MRI course recognized by the C.A.M.R.T.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the applicable policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must exhibit good interpersonal and English written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion to all patients and recognize and calm those with a high degree of anxiety.
Physical Requirements
  • Good physical and mental health and manual dexterity.
  • Stands and moves about during most of the working day.
  • Bends, reaches, and lifts and carries for short distances, materials or accessory equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • At times may be required to push or pull heavy equipment.
  • Lifts and positions patients, some of whom are in a state of complete unconsciousness.
  • The incumbents work in close proximity to very strong magnetic fields.
Must be available to return to the Centre within 45 minutes for on call/stand-by coverage.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
