Job Description

VRS Communities Society (VRS) is a not-for-profit housing and care organization for disabled and senior living individuals, located in the Vancouver, South Granville area. VRS is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time General Accountant.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Director of Financial Services & Data Mgmt., this position performs, prepares and processes financial records according to established Society procedures, and is responsible for the administration of bi-weekly payroll to include federal, provincial, benefit, and WorkSafe BC deductions, remittances and contributions. The position demands professional and consistent communication with employees, managers, executives, and directors to fulfill financial requirements and to ensure that transactions are processed correctly in an efficient manner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES



Set up new vendors and ensure the new vendors provide third party liabilities insurance and Worksafe BC insurance Process and review of vendor invoices and code as necessary to obtain payment approvals from signing authorities Print cheques and process EFT payments for vendors Enter monthly and incidental charges for residents and other customers. Rent roll reports come through from the site managers. These reports are double checked, and the charges are entered into the system. Occupancy reports are generated based on the numbers given in the rent roll An EFT report is generated for all residents who are paying through pre-authorized withdrawal and that report is sent to the bank for processing Process government funding Assist with the coordination of cash management duties including preparing cash report on a bi-weekly report Process monthly credit cards transactions and EFT payments Perform monthly bank reconciliation, and coordinate with AR and AP on the reconciliation of AR, AP, revenue transactions and expenses Prepare annual statements of financial position accounts reconciliation Process and reconcile the intercompany accounts monthly including coordinating appropriate fund transfer Prepare and support the completion of the annual audit and audit working papers Process monthly journal entries and prepare month-end closing entries Maintain complete accurate supporting documents and files for all financial transactions and reports Cross train and support the junior team members in completing duties, tasks and answering questions Prepare the reconciliation of extraordinary funding, grants including providing supporting documents Support and recommend accounting improvements that include the development of enhancing the accuracy in reporting, and improving the efficiency of processing financial transactions Assist with developing the annual budget Assist with analyzing budget variances identifying key drivers to supporting the development of the month's financial reports Prepare GST/PST and various tax remittance on a quarterly basis Prepare payroll journal entries monthly into the GP Perform related clerical duties, such as maintaining filling, record systems, faxing and photocopying, SignNow Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of employees and financial records Perform other related duties as directed

QUALIFICATIONS



Undergraduate or above in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration 3-5 years of direct full-cycle accounting experience ERP system experiences a definite asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
