General Accountant - Residential Real Estate Development

Mastercraft Starwood is a leading residential real estate developer and property management company in Ottawa and Toronto. Mastercraft is developing a new generation of purpose-built rental buildings which are state-of-the-art, transit-oriented, and energy efficient under the SoHo brand.

As the General Accountant, your responsibilities include:

• Day-to-day full-cycle accounting transactions
• Reconciliation of vendor accounts
• Accounts receivable analysis and reporting
• Review and analysis of monthly financial statements
• Budgeting and projections for various development projects
• Preparation of year-end files and financial statements
• Generate accurate financial reports and identify discrepancies
• Assistance with audits; collaborate appropriately to ensure all information is provided promptly
• Preparation and filing of simple corporate tax returns
• Balance accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
• Execute tasks/requests as instructed by the Director of Finance and/or President
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
• All other duties as requested.

Role Requirements:

• 1-3 years experience in an accounting-related position with a practical understanding of property management and/or cost accounting.
• Undergraduate degree with a focus on accounting, or equivalent work experience; Entry level CPA is an asset.
• A positive attitude, with a strong work ethic and a focus on security and confidentiality;
• Great organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task;
• Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

Job Type:

• Full-time, Permanent, Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:
Ottawa, ON K1S 5V3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
