Act as the main technical contact for industrial power transmission (PT) product lines. Primarily responsible for providing technical support to internal and external customers in response to a variety of technical and repair situations regarding SMC products and services.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

? Support Sumitomo external and internal customers with application, product, technical information.
? Evaluate, identify and resolve technical challenges.
? Create bills of materials and product I.D. numbers as required for assigned products.
? Create part numbers and maintain current part numbers per Sumitomo policies
? Control, manage and develop technical standards, resources and information related to products and applications.
? Develop and control new series features, options and accessories for the assigned product.
? Serves as the interface with parent company in Japan and China on GB/GM products and issues.
? Communication with Sumitomo factories on engineering-related details (quotations, drawings, etc.) and relay information to design as necessary.
? Prepare engineering documentation such as load calculations, bearing life, thermal calculations, etc.
? Standardization of reducer instrumentation and others.
? Non?standard instrumentation selection and quotations.
? Establishing engineering-related standard operating procedures and policies.
? Prepare drawing requests for the design team.
? Review outline, assembly, and manufacturing drawings.
? Support Project Management department with Job Gen package (if required).
? Review and approval of vendor drawings for fit and function.
? Support design with FEA analysis.
? Continuous improvement projects.
? Responsible for root cause and corrective action for engineering-related discrepancies reports and customer
incident reports.
? Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

? University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
? Willing to work towards Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
? Three (3) years of technical experience with an industrial power transmission distributor or manufacturer
(sizing gearboxes, couplings, motion control products, etc).
? Good critical and conceptual thinking skills.
? Proficiency in MSOffice.
? Proficient with MS Excel VBA.
? Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
? Ability to work under pressure.
? Fluently bilingual, written & oral (French / English) would be considered an asset.
