JOB TITLE: Gate Security Guard (Full- or Part-time) DEPARTMENT/AREA: Facilities Management DATE LAST UPDATED: April 2023 Job Objectives: The Gate Security Guard is a key member of the Facilities team, ensuring authorized access to the Yard, overseeing safe movement of vehicles and checking the security of the buildings and other facilities. Their ready and willing attitude keeps the gate and yard running smoothly and contributes to a safe and positive working environment. When performing security duties, they provide the all-important first impression for Tornado, and ensure a positive experience by handling arrivals and requests pleasantly, promptly, and effectively. Relationships: Reports to: Supervisor, Facilities Management Internal contacts: Plant Manager, Managers, Supervisors, All Employees External Contacts: Pick-up and delivery personnel, visitors and others. Key Responsibility Areas: Gate Security

• Stop and greet all incoming traffic, ensure they are authorized to enter the yard and direct them to the correct destination.
• Redirect incoming arrivals who are not authorized or whose business does not require yard entry.
• Connect incoming visitors with their Tornado hosts.
• Record incoming traffic on a list along with time in/time out.
• Provides direction to arrivals uncertain of where to go. Connect unexpected arrivals with Reception.

Traffic Movement

• Assist in organizing orderly movement of inbound and outbound traffic in the gate area.
• Observe and record violations of stop sign and speed limit compliance. Remind employees and guests of requirements for safe driving in the yard.

Site Security

• Maintain vigilance for unusual activity on or around the property. Become familiar with authorized personnel and regular visitors.
• Assist in morning and evening security patrols, checking for overall security, locked doors and closed windows, etc. Check the integrity of parked trucks and chassis.
• Note and report any evidence of damage or intrusion.

Projects / Other Assignments:

• Assist in the direction of emergency vehicles if required.
• Works on related projects or initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications: Education

• Completion of High School.
• Experience in security is preferred.
• Coursework in a related area is an asset.

Experience

• 1-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in facility or jobsite security.

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily performed outdoors. Security personnel should be dressed appropriately for all kinds of weather.
• Occasional contact with a manufacturing environment, which may present hazards, requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• CSA-approved safety footwear is required. All other PPE is provided.
