Location: Vegreville, AB or Viking, AB

Duration: 12 months

Position Summary:

The Gasfitter (Operator - Service) is a key technical role responsible for the meticulous installation, inspection, adjustment, and maintenance of natural gas equipment, ensuring the utmost safety and adherence to all relevant codes and standards. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining system reliability and efficiency, safeguarding both public and occupational safety.

What You Get to Do:

  • Complete the installation, inspection, testing, and servicing of natural gas equipment, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide equipment installation and servicing.
  • Lead and perform gas equipment and system installation, inspection, and maintenance activities.
  • Address customer service inquiries, fulfilling a range of service tasks.
  • Operate and maintain gas regulation, measurement, and odorization equipment.
  • Take part in emergency response, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  • Investigate gas leaks, odors, and related incidents, ensuring public safety.
  • Operate tools and equipment required for service delivery effectively.
  • Engage in maintenance operations, including equipment testing, calibration, and repair.
  • Conduct surveys to identify and address gas system leaks or anomalies.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained, functioning accurately, and detailed.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and lead all aspects of contractor work for compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation related to the job functions.
  • Educate on and apply the detection and prevention of gas theft.
  • Deliver job training and ensure personal readiness for standby and emergency duties.
  • Flexibly participate in shift work and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Alberta Class A or Class B Gas Fitters Ticket.
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory codes in the natural gas industry.
  • Ability to acquire the appropriate company required certificates and successfully complete the required courses.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Class \'5\' driver\'s license.
  • Ability to meet fitness/mask fit testing requirements.
  • Ability to interpret plans, working drawings and material specification.
