Centennial College's Faculty of Lifelong Learning & Industry Training is seeking qualified instructors to deliver
TSSA-accredited Gas Technician and Propane certification training programs
at our Ashtonbee Campus. These programs prepare students for certification under Ontario Regulation 215/01 of the Technical Standards & Safety Act, 2000.
The successful candidate will deliver both theoretical and practical components of the program in compliance with
TSSA's accreditation standards
, ensuring that all course objectives, equipment use, and evaluation procedures meet regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Deliver the standardized
TSSA Gas Technician and Propane curriculum
as approved by the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA).
Provide engaging instruction through classroom theory and practical lab training.
Maintain a safe and well-organized laboratory environment equipped with the required tools, fuels, fittings, gauges, appliances, and safety systems.
Conduct and document practical evaluations in accordance with TSSA standards--ensuring only approved instructors perform evaluations.
Ensure exam administration and invigilation comply with TSSA confidentiality and security protocols.
Keep accurate student records including attendance, grades, and certification documentation as required for TSSA audits (minimum three-year retention).
Participate in periodic TSSA audits and internal Centennial College program reviews.
Update course materials and delivery methods in alignment with regulatory changes and technological advancements in the gas and propane industries.
Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure all reporting, instructor updates, and course revisions are properly submitted to TSSA.
Qualifications
TSSA-certified Gas Technician 1 or 2 (G1/G2)
or equivalent recognized certification.
Minimum
five (5) years of relevant industry experience
in gas and/or propane systems installation, maintenance, or inspection.
Demonstrated teaching experience or proven ability to deliver technical training.
In-depth understanding of current
CSA B149
and
B109
codes and related standards.
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Commitment to maintaining safety, compliance, and professionalism in the learning environment.
Preferred:
Experience teaching within a post-secondary or private training institution.
Familiarity with TSSA's Gas Technician and Oil Burner Technician Policies and Procedures.* Certification or recognition as a technical trainer.

Qualifications
Proven experience in teaching, training, or relevant instructional roles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to motivate and inspire learners of varying backgrounds
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Relevant certifications or educational qualifications preferred but not required
Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles
Passion for education and continuous professional development
