The Gasfitter (A/B) is responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing propane systems and appliances in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings. This role requires strict adherence to safety regulations, technical standards, and provincial/territorial gas codes. The ideal candidate is a skilled tradesperson with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Service
Install, test, and commission propane equipment, piping, and appliances
Diagnose and repair faults in gas heating systems, furnaces, boilers, water heaters, fireplaces, and related equipment
Inspect and maintain gas systems to ensure safe operation
Perform pressure tests, leak detection, and equipment calibrations
Install and troubleshoot venting systems and combustion air requirements
Safety & Compliance
Follow all federal, provincial, and local codes and safety regulations
Complete required permits, documentation, and compliance forms
Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures
Maintain cleanliness and safety of job sites
Customer Service
Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair options clearly to customers
Provide professional, courteous service at all times
Document work performed and ensure accurate billing information
Tools & Equipment
Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and specialized gas instruments
Ensure service vehicle and equipment are maintained in safe working order
Qualifications
Valid
Gasfitter Class A or Class B Certification
Provincial/territorial trade qualification and up-to-date license
Experience working with propane systems
Valid driver's license with clean abstract
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, codes, and manuals
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights
Preferred Assets
Red Seal Endorsement (if applicable)
HVAC certification (e.g., refrigeration, air conditioning)
Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial gas systems
Strong customer service skills
Work Environment
Field-based work with travel to customer sites
Exposure to outdoor conditions, mechanical rooms, confined spaces
Use of PPE required
