Job Summary

The Gas Bar Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing transactions, and maintaining the daily operations of the gas bar. The role primarily involves indoor tasks such as selling fuel, propane, and tobacco, while ensuring the store is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

Customer Service Greet customers and assist with inquiries and purchases. Handle customer complaints or concerns, escalating when necessary. Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor with all customers. Cash Handling & Transactions Operate the cash register, accurately processing transactions (cash, credit, debit). Handle payments, returns, and exchanges in line with company policies. Balance the cash register at the end of the shift. Ensure adherence to all cash control and loss prevention procedures. Dip Stick Measurements Perform routine dip stick measurements to check fuel levels in underground tanks. Record and report fuel inventory levels to ensure accurate stock tracking. Identify and communicate any discrepancies or issues with fuel levels to the supervisor. Propane Sales Safely sell and handle propane cylinders, following all safety procedures and regulations. Monitor propane inventory and notify supervisor of refueling needs. Ensure propane storage areas are organized and compliant with safety standards. Tobacco Sales Follow legal guidelines and store policies for the sale of tobacco products, including age verification. Ensure tobacco products are secured, properly stocked, and priced. Product Management Stock and organize merchandise in the store, ensuring neat, well-stocked shelves. Ensure products are correctly priced and update promotional signage as required. Monitor inventory for convenience items, fuel, propane, and tobacco, reporting any shortages to the supervisor. Rotate stock and monitor for expired or damaged items. Store Readiness & Maintenance Support opening and closing procedures, including security measures and housekeeping duties. Keep the checkout area, shelves, and merchandise displays neat, tidy, and well-organized. Assist with general housekeeping duties, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness throughout the store, warehouse, parking lot and yard. Professionalism & Appearance Maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance in line with the store's uniform policy. Safety & Security Monitor for potential shoplifting incidents and take appropriate actions as per store policy. Follow and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for employees and customers. Ensure OHS standards are policies are being followed. Team Support & Training Assist in training new personnel. Attend store meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Support store management with additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous retail experience is an asset. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. Willingness to learn and continuously develop professional skills.
Working Conditions

Work in a fast-paced environment that requires long periods of standing and walking. Exposure to dust and strong odors. Lift and carry merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50-$19.00 per hour
