About the Role:
The Gallery Officer is a key member of our front-of-house team, supporting both the safety and enjoyment of all who visit the AGGV. This multifaceted position combines elements of security, visitor services, and technical support, ensuring that exhibitions and events are delivered with care, professionalism, and a warm welcome. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with the public, thrives in dynamic environments, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming gallery atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist visitors, providing information about exhibitions and programs.
Process admissions and retail transactions, following established procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized front desk and public-facing areas.
Answer the gallery's main phone line and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
Record daily visitor statistics and update communication logs.
Monitor galleries and grounds to ensure visitor, staff, and artwork safety.
Support opening/closing procedures, including daily inspections.
Follow emergency protocols and report incidents to appropriate personnel.
Assist with event setup/cleanup and gallery-wide security during public programs (e.g., Urbanite, exhibition openings).
Support wayfinding and visitor flow during high-traffic periods.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of programs and events.
Perform basic A/V and technical support tasks as required.
What We're Looking For:
Strong verbal communication skills and comfort working with the public in a culturally diverse environment.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and navigate stairs.
Basic experience with computers and A/V equipment.
Ability to lift moderate-weight items and handle light setup tasks.
First Aid and/or Security certification is an asset.
Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.
