Position
Reporting to management, the
Fusion Technician
is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and quality control of HDPE pipe systems for construction and utility projects. This role involves both field and warehouse-based work, including operating fusion equipment, material handling, and supporting overall project delivery. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and committed to providing professional service to customers and project partners.
This position is on a 14/7 rotation on a mining site located in Central, Newfoundland
.
Key Responsibilities
Pipe Fusion & Installation
Fabricate custom HDPE pipe assemblies to required specifications using butt, socket, and electrofusion methods
Install HDPE pipe, fittings, and fabrications on active construction sites
Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work plans
Inspect fused joints, perform quality checks, and ensure compliance with industry standards
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Safely operate fusion equipment, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on HDPE fusion equipment
Ensure all equipment is used and maintained in accordance with safety requirements
Warehouse & Materials Management
Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and safety
Receive, count, and verify incoming shipments
Pick, assemble, package, and stage materials for projects
Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
Safety, Quality & Team Support
Uphold Bursey Excavating's core values, ethics, and safety culture at all times
Work safely and effectively as part of a team and assist with additional tasks as required
Provide a professional, courteous, and customer-focused atmosphere
Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates
Complete required documentation, quality records, and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education an asset)
Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detai
Ability to develop comprehensive product and application knowledge
Experience with HDPE pipe fusion or construction/utility work considered an asset
Fusion certifications (HDPE tickets) considered an asset or willingness to obtain
Valid driver's license required
Ability to travel for extended periods of time
