The Opportunity:



The

Funeral Director Assistant

position requires a high level of compassion and a caring individual who enjoys helping others. This is a great entry-level opportunity to secure a position and gain hands-on experience in the funeral profession, with the potential to apply internally to our company-sponsored Funeral Director and/or Embalmer Apprenticeship Program.

The role comes with a total compensation package comprised of an annual salary from

$45,000 to $52,000, quarterly bonus potential, health, dental & insurance benefits, a wellness spending account, and a Company RRSP matching program.

We are looking for a person who believes that what they do makes a difference in people's lives, and who wants to carry on our mission of caring for the bereaved through meaningful service and gracious care to those who need our help.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Will be very empathetic, organized and possess excellent time management skills. Along with these attributes this person must also be capable of fulfilling the physical demands of the job.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist the Funeral Director

in preparing for services, including setup, coordination, and ensuring all necessary materials and arrangements are in place. Provide compassionate, professional, and respectful service to grieving families and guests. Support day-to-day funeral home operations, including preparation of service areas and administrative tasks. Manage time efficiently to ensure tasks are completed promptly and services run smoothly. Communicate effectively with families, addressing their needs and concerns with empathy and sensitivity. Handle incoming calls with professionalism and strong phone etiquette. Maintain accurate and confidential records. Collaborate effectively with team members to support a respectful and positive workplace. Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn, with the goal of entering the

Apprenticeship Program

. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other development opportunities as required. Perform other related duties as assigned, supporting both front-of-house and behind-the-scenes operations.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:



Strong interest in becoming a

Funeral Director

and growing within the profession. A team player who fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment. Maintains a positive attitude and motivates others to excel. Demonstrates the ability to take direction and provide support to Funeral Directors. Displays a professional demeanor and consistently delivers a high standard of service. Possesses strong interpersonal skills, including phone etiquette. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

Projects and maintains an office-professional appearance

, with conservative, subdued (muted, neutral tones) attire.
