Shalom Counselling Services is a community-based, not-for-profit counselling agency in Waterloo, Ontario. For over 40 years, we have provided accessible, inclusive, and spiritually integrated counselling to individuals, couples, and families.
We respect each person's spiritual or faith background when they wish to include it in counselling, while also ensuring our services are fully inclusive and welcoming to people of all identities and beliefs.
Guided by our vision of a community of peace and wellness where all can thrive, we serve approximately 900 clients annually. Through our equity-based fee scale, donor-supported subsidies and community partners, we ensure that cost is never a barrier to mental health care.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a
Fundraising & Engagement Director
who shares our passion for making counselling accessible and inclusive. This role blends donor relationship management, grant writing, event coordination, and fundraising communications.
You will work closely with the Executive Director, Board members, and community partners to grow and sustain the donor base, cultivate major gifts, and deliver meaningful fundraising events and campaigns -- all in support of mental health care that is accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive.
Your Role
As our Fundraising & Communications Director, you will be the driving force in growing our fundraising efforts to an annual goal of
$350,000
. You'll build relationships, tell our story, and create opportunities for individuals, foundations, faith communities, and businesses to invest in mental wellness.
You'll work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Senior management team, and community partners to strengthen our donor base, steward major gifts, and lead meaningful events and campaigns.
What You'll Do
Lead our annual fundraising plan to meet and exceed a $350,000 target.
Build and nurture relationships with donors, partners, faith communities, and sponsors.
Identify and pursue grant and sponsorship opportunities.
Plan and execute signature fundraising events and community campaigns.
Ensure thoughtful donor stewardship, recognition, and impact reporting.
Create compelling fundraising communications in partnership with our team.
What You Bring
Commitment to Shalom's vision, mission, and values
3-5 years of experience in fundraising and donor relations, with proven success meeting revenue goals.
Comfort and enthusiasm for engaging donors and making asks.
Strong grant writing, proposal development, and event planning skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills -- you tell a story that inspires.
Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of CRA charitable giving guidelines is an asset.
