Reporting to the Executive Director the Fund Development Officer is responsible for advancing the Shevchenko Foundation's fundraising objectives through the strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. This role manages and expands a portfolio of individual, corporate, and Foundation supporters, with a focus on securing major gifts and fostering long-term philanthropic relationships. The Fund Development Officer works collaboratively with the internal team to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and contribute to the sustainability and growth of the organization's mission.
POSITION TITLE: Fund Development Officer (Full-time, renewable annually)
The position is open to candidates across Canada, with occasional travel required.
Major Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to:
1. Develop and execute annual fundraising strategies that align with the Foundation's mission, vision, values and Strategic Plan, with a focus on donor engagement and revenue growth.
2. Identify, cultivate, and steward major gift prospects; design and implement donor engagement plans that foster long-term relationships and encourage continued and increasing giving.
3. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to support their active participation in donor cultivation, solicitation, and relationship-building efforts.
4. Lead the planning and execution of annual fundraising campaigns in partnership with the Communications and Community Relations Officer utilizing a multi-channel approach, including direct mail, digital media, print, website, and public relations.
5. Coordinate and manage donor recognition initiatives, special events, and outreach activities to enhance donor engagement and philanthropic support.
6. Implement and oversee Board-approved fundraising initiatives, ensuring effective execution and relationship-building with current and prospective donors.
7. Ensure effective policies, procedures, and control systems are in place to guide and evaluate all fund development activities, including oversight of the integrity and accuracy of the donor database.
8. Conduct regular analysis and reporting on fundraising performance and donor engagement, providing timely and comprehensive updates to the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support informed decision-making.
9. Collaborate with all staff, providing guidance and support on fundraising strategies, donor relations, and philanthropic initiatives to ensure alignment and shared success.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and AFP Certification with 5 - 7 years experience in the fundraising/development field.
Familiarity with the Ukrainian community in Canada.
Proven success in securing major gifts and building long-term donor relationships.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
Willingness to travel.
