Position Summary
The Fund Development Officer is the lead of the Fund Development team, reporting directly to the Executive Director. You will be responsible for the overall execution of the FCHS Fund Development Plan, with a primary focus on cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with all donors, sponsors, partners, and community stakeholders.
This role requires you to be a proactive external relationship builder, a meticulous manager of data and systems, and a collaborative leader who works across the organization.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Strategic Fundraising & Annual Giving
Develop, coordinate, and implement the organization's annual appeals, including oversight of related events and campaigns.
Analyze donor data to inform segmentation for mail, email, social media, and other giving campaigns.
Actively identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, prospects, and corporate funders, with a focus on major gift identification.
Coordinate monthly donor programs.
Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Associate to create compelling campaign materials.
Database Management & Reporting
Serve as the lead on data entry and establish standardized protocols for donor and donation management using platforms like DonorPerfect, Givecloud, and CanadaHelps.
Maintain, update, and clean database records to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
Collaborate with the Accounting Department to reconcile donor and financial data for accurate reporting, analysis, and strategic planning.
Grant Writing & Oversight
Manage and coordinate all grant activities, partnering with external support to identify and prioritize grant opportunities.
Prepare and review grant proposals, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with all reporting requirements.
Maintain an up-to-date grant tracking system.
Stewardship & Donor Recognition
Lead comprehensive donor stewardship efforts, ensuring timely and personalized acknowledgment through emails, cards, and other recognition methods.
Implement and track donor recognition activities, including naming agreements and signage, ensuring adherence to gift acceptance policies.
Event Support & Management
Provide strategic oversight and support for all fundraising and donor engagement events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fund development priorities.
Attend both annual major fundraising events (held in May and October) and other key events as required to represent FCHS and support donor engagement.
Oversee and manage third-party event agreements, ensuring brand consistency, compliance with FCHS policies, and proper acceptance and processing of funds.
Collaborate with Event Coordinator and event committees to ensure successful execution of events.

Reporting Line: Executive Director
Supervisory Responsibilities: Events Coordinator and Marketing & Communications Associate
Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE (Full-Time, 40 hours/week), typically Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends as required for events, meetings, and speaking engagements.
What You'll Bring
Preferred Minimum Requirements
A certificate, diploma, or degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation is preferred or working towards it.
Demonstrated experience and skill in developing and sustaining donor relationships.
In-depth knowledge of donor data systems (DonorPerfect or similar).
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with high-level research, analysis, and presentation abilities.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, TEAMS, and Zoom.
A professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with a diversity of donors, employees, and volunteers.
High-level research, analysis, writing, and presentation skills
Membership in a professional organization such as AFP, CAGP-ACPDP, AHP, or CASE is an asset.
Working Conditions
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events.
Current, valid driver's license and ability to travel off-site is required.
Flex-time and hybrid working model options are possible.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
