Specific Position Duties:
Plan and deliver engaging instruction across the Grade 2 curriculum, aligned with the Alberta Program of Studies
Design and implement effective literacy and numeracy programming, including the use of diagnostic assessments to inform instruction
Provide differentiated support for a range of student learning needs and readiness levels
Foster a safe, inclusive, and responsive classroom environment that promotes student well-being and academic growth
Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to enhance student learning and strengthen school community connections
Qualifications and General Duties:
A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Demonstrates a student-centred philosophy committed to maximizing learning in a safe and caring environment
Proficiency with Google Suite and educational tools for communication and planning
Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning, including formative and summative assessment strategies
Ability to build positive relationships with students and foster a sense of belonging
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard
A willingness to contribute to the school's extracurricular programs is considered an asset

Known for its strong academic focus, Irma offers a diverse program with robust instruction in literacy, numeracy, music, and Career and Technology Studies (CTS). The school maintains a 1:1 student-to-device ratio and all classrooms are equipped with SmartBoard technology to support inclusive and engaging learning. Staff are committed to cross-curricular instruction and the development of strong reading comprehension strategies, including the reciprocal teaching method across grade levels.

has approximately 510 inhabitants, and the school draws from the farming community around the village. Traditionally, Irma has been mixed agriculture and resource-based economy; however, military families from Camp Wainwright are also a part of our community. The community provides a solid foundation for the school, and is a strong supporter of school activities. Our school and the community share facilities and resources with each other to promote growth and community spirit. People in our community have access within the village to a grocery store, restaurant, post office, banking, and other amenities. Irma also offers strong sports programs for residents including hockey, curling, and fastball.
